1. Controller and contact

Fabrice Montfort is the publisher of i-Futhark and the controller of the processing described here. For a privacy or data-related question, use the form on the Contact page.

This policy covers the website, app and services needed for its functions. The functions you use depend on the app version and your choices.

2. The website

Pages, images, and fonts are served by Firebase Hosting. The website does not load analytics or advertising tools. The selected language is included in the page address. The hosting provider may process technical connection and security data, including the IP address.

When you use the contact form, your email address, message, chosen subject, and any optional information you provide are sent to the server and then to Fabrice Montfort through our messaging service. This information is used to respond to you and is not sent to analytics tools.

The Contact page uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to protect the form against abuse. Google may process your IP address, browser information, and interactions needed for this verification, and may use security cookies. The server verifies the token before sending. A temporary limit on messages provides additional protection.

3. App identity and data

The app may create a guest Firebase identity so you can access protected content and save your data without Game Center. With Game Center, devices signed in to the same account can access the same data. Guest data can be transferred to that account after both identities are verified. We do not receive your Apple password.

Firebase services store your user ID, synced preferences, rune of the day, personal journal, quiz statistics, and stone or Premium entitlements. Your journal contains structured activity data, including dates, runes, methods, quiz results, and entries you create. This data is private and accessible only to your account. A local copy lets you continue offline and resume syncing later.

App Check/App Attest and necessary technical information protect service requests. These mechanisms do not replace consent choices for analytics or advertising.

Appearance and notification preferences can be shared across your devices. System permissions, ad consent, and your Analytics choice are specific to each device; syncing does not enable them automatically.

4. Purchases, stones and advertising

Apple handles purchases and subscriptions. i-Futhark verifies transactions and processes the technical references needed to grant entitlements. We do not receive your payment card number.

Without Premium, Google AdMob may display advertising subject to your choices, required consent and applicable settings. Personalisation and advertising tracking depend on Google UMP choices and iOS permission where required.

A rewarded ad may transmit a technical identifier or ticket to verify the reward. The app asks for confirmation before rewarded formats. Refusing does not grant a reward.

5. Optional analytics and assisted tools

Your choice in the app controls optional usage analytics. Events contain usage information and technical parameters, not the text of your questions, personal readings or Journal content. You can withdraw your choice.

When requesting assisted content or a reading, necessary request elements may be processed by Firebase and the configured AI provider, including OpenAI. Runes, language, layout and relevant context depend on the function. Avoid unnecessary sensitive personal information.

Shared exports are sent to a destination you choose only when you initiate sharing. Adding an image to Photos uses the corresponding system permission.

6. Purposes and legal bases

Providing requested functions and managing entitlements serve performance of the service. Security, abuse prevention and technical diagnostics may rely on legitimate interests. Processing requiring a prior choice, including certain analytics and advertising, relies on consent where required.

Support requests are processed to respond to you; rights requests also fulfil applicable obligations. Providing an email for support does not automatically add it to a marketing list.

7. Recipients and transfers

Recipients depend on the use: Fabrice Montfort, our email service provider for received requests, Apple for Game Center and purchases, Google/Firebase for hosting and services, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise for form protection, Google AdMob for ads, and the AI providers configured for relevant requests.

Some Firebase services are configured in North America. Processing may therefore take place outside the European Economic Area. Applicable safeguards depend on the services and contracts, including standard contractual clauses where needed. Provider policies are linked on this page.

8. Retention and deletion

Local data remains on your device until deletion, storage reset or uninstalling. Account data and server preferences are retained for as long as they are needed for the account, or until they are deleted using the process provided in the app.

Support data is kept while resolving the request and for necessary follow-up. Transaction, security or fraud prevention records may be retained separately where necessary or legally required. They must not be used to reactivate a deleted account.

Deleting an i-Futhark account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel through Apple. The Delete account page explains the request process.

To prevent sign-ins or rewards that are still in progress from recreating your data, a technical deletion marker is kept temporarily. It is set to expire 24 hours after deletion and is then removed automatically by the service. It contains no profile, journal, or exported content.

9. Your rights

You have the applicable rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. For your i-Futhark account, data deletion and retrieval must be carried out in the app. The contact form remains available for exercising your rights concerning website data, or for reporting difficulties accessing the app.

A proportionate verification may be necessary to protect your data. Requests to exercise your rights normally receive a response within one month; any extension permitted by law must be explained. You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL.

10. Policy changes

The update date is shown on this page. Significant processing changes must be reflected here and, where necessary, communicated to you or accompanied by a new choice in the app.
